Amidst at the nature , heritage , entertainment and
development there is another substantial
sphere of experience in the heart of the city Bhubaneswar- Museum of Tribal
Arts and Artifacts. Initially established
in 1986 as five different huts representing five tribe groups this
museum has grown to a large building and
five different halls from 2001. The cultural life of indigenous people of Odisha
is researched and documented in the form of artifacts. The five different halls put on display the things as follows
Hall 1 : Ornaments
that were worn and decorated by tribes
,made by themselves.
Hall 2: The personal belongings, art and wall paintings made
by raw natural products, and some very ancient photographs.
Hall 3: Weapons used
by tribes for defense, hunting, fishing etc.
Hall 4: objects of household and objects used for
agriculture.
Hall 5: Instruments used for playing music and dance related
items.
The museum is a wonderful campus designed to depict the tribal life with
few little huts, small gardens, walls
painted with natural paints used by tribes , statues of tribes at places
etc. The positioning of wooden chairs,
artificial animals, original wooden wheels and carts and many such things is
going to make you breathe the aura of ancient days.
